How it Works
- Systemic Action: After application, the herbicide is absorbed through the leaves and translocates throughout the plant's tissues.
- Enzyme Inhibition: It blocks the action of the EPSPS enzyme, an essential enzyme for producing amino acids required for protein synthesis.
- Plant Death: Without protein synthesis, the plant dies, effectively eradicating the weed.
Key Characteristics
- Non-Selective: It targets any plant it comes into contact with, so it should be used carefully in non-crop areas or where complete vegetation control is desired.
- Broad-Spectrum: It effectively controls both broadleaf and grassy weeds.
- Post-Emergence: Applied after weeds have already emerged and are actively growing.
- Soluble Granule (SG): This form dissolves easily in water, making it convenient for foliar spraying on active weeds.
Common Applications
- Non-Crop Areas: Used in open fields, bunds, water channels, industrial sites, and roadways.
- Tea Plantations: An effective weed remedy in tea-growing regions.
- Pre-Planting: Can be used to clear land before planting crops to ensure a weed-free start.
